sorry about my 2 week long blog absence but i was having a fantastic time in Switzerland. I can't be bothered to tell you what happened everyday no matter how small so here are the highlights of my holiday.
Paragliding: So running off a mountain is absolutely as terrifying as it sounds. the bit off mountain we jumped off was over 2000m above sea level. we got there via cable car. I had a German instructor doing all the steering whilst i just sat back and enjoyed the views. So we were up the mountain he goes 'on 3 u run. u ready? 1, 2, 3'. then we ran. I soon raised off the floor and i was flying. i had a great time and i saw some brilliant views. pictures will be on fb at some point. Here is a vid of bits of my flight. the 2nd bit was when we started to spin so that we would fall quicker so that the ride doesn't last forever but i was still up in the air for about 10 mins and i landed without any bumps.
White water rafting: it was the 30th of July and we were taken to a v fast flowing river by a minibus. I sat at the front so that i would get the most wet. I did get very wet and the rapids were a lot of fun. But they could of been scarier if it had rained the day before but it hadn't so less water so more tame. Still was a lot of fun.
Jacob's Ladder: A row of wooden poles rising upwards. The gap between them increased the higher you got. However this activity didn't look much fun but it was mainly due to our instructors. We had martin (who turned out to be our Hockenhorn guide) and another person. first we had to get to the top with someone's help without using the cables at either side of the poles. U couldn't do it by yourself. Then we raced up there this time using the cables to help us up. I sadly lost against tom. What made it fun was each time we reached the top we were forced to sing an embarrassing song. the songs that we sang throughout the activity were barbie girl, Bohemian rhapsody, YMCA and I'm a little tea pot.
Swiss National day: the whole of this day was amazing. It started at 8 where everyone at KISC had breakfast together on the sports field. then we were force to do fitness aerobics style. It was so much fun here is tom doing it.
Hockernhorn: oh yes i climbed the hock. the hock looked down at me but i laughed and beat it. It took us 1 and a half days to reach the summit at 3293m above sea level. We stayed overnight in a mountain hut with an all u can eat tea :). The first day we got no views at all as it was so cloudy and we had non-stop rain for the whole day. However the 2nd day cleared up and we got amazing views at the top. It was a v hard hike and it took a lot out of me. My bones were all aching. Then we had to go down. Some of the mountain was covered in snow so we had the stupid idea to slide down it using ice picks as brakes. suicide but i enjoyed it. At the top i recorded a vid:
Rock climbing: To be honest we didn't ave high expectations for this activity. we got there at 8.30 thinking it would all be over by 11. we soon found out it was ending at half 4 and we had no lunch and little water. but some of the scouts shared with us. We knew this activity was gonna be gd when we where taken via cable car to the cliffs we would be climbing. It was a lot of fun and not easy. foot and hand holes weren't easy to find. I was originally gonna spend the time after rock climbing to go to town for souvenirs and gifts. but that never happened as we got back so late so i got no gifts for my family from this holiday.
Snow and ice combo: I had no idea what this was gonna be like and it exceeded all the expectations i had. We got up to the mountain up at 12 ish via cable car and some hiking. behind this hut were some amazing glaciers. and have a guess who i met up with at this activity. good old Ruth miles. who u may ask. well she's in my Tg at college and she's friends with Stephen Springate. So we got there we put on our crampons, helmets and harnesses and we were armed with ice pics. We spent the day walking and jumping over crevasses and being lowered into one which was insanely deep. Once again we had an all you can eat tea. the 2nd day we did some ice climbing like below. they were great two days. After all this snow stuff we had our closing ceremony/pool party. but sadly it didn't stop raining and the pool was outside. still we made it fun.
and that is it. i had an amazing time and i got back home around 7 yesterday. i want to meet up with people before I'm off again. My wk is mostly empty except on Wednesday when i ave my theory test :(.
Bye
